Session One – “Becoming Evangelistic People”
5 Minutes
Welcome & Prayer
10 Minutes
OPEN
What does it mean to describe someone as having a positive attitude? Do you believe with all of your heart that collectively God’s people can make a radical difference in our world?
If our culture is to be transformed, it will happen when every believer regularly shares his faith over the backyard fence, or during a meal, with a colleague, or in a check-out line. Does that characterize you at this point in your life? If not, why not?
15-20 Minutes
DIG
What are the noticeable ingredients of a church with a positive and progressive evangelistic culture?
When God is placed at the center of the life transformation happening in the hearts of people, the culture of the church will change. Not until. Spiritual transformation comes as persons or as communities live with a profound recognition of the providence of God. Do you agree with this thought? Why or why not?
How does spiritual complacency creep into our lives and cripple us from being evangelistic people?
How would you describe the “chasm” that prevents some from finding the Lord? What insights did the chapter entitled, “Worldviews in Conflict” shed on your understanding of this chasm?
In these times, we can’t assume that most people know the scriptures and have some knowledge of the basic tenets of the Christian faith. Nor that they have had some sort of church affiliation. Today, many people are completely unfamiliar with the very basic biblical truths. We must see ourselves much like missionaries. How does that strike you?
20 Minutes
REFLECT
In what way(s) are you a “bridge” that is leading someone to Christ?
Paul speaks in Romans 12:1-2 of this transformation coming as a result of “renewing our mind.” Why is this such an integral requirement to our being effective disciples and witnesses for Christ? What changes must you make in this regard to better prepare yourself to be a more effective witness for Christ?
5 Minutes
PRAYER TIME
How have you been convicted by this study this week? What are your prayer requests for our church collectively and for you specifically?
