Community Focus Luncheons |
During the past several years, we’ve been developing relationships with leaders of varied helping agencies (i.e., Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanity, Little Rock Housing Authority, Hope Center, Red Cross, Union Rescue Mission, Dorcas House, Ronald McDonald House) with the goal of partnering to make a difference in our community. These are organizations with a niche and a proven track record of service. Instead of “re-inventing the wheel” and creating duplication, we want to explore the possibility of partnering with these organizations to help them better serve the needs of others.
Beginning early in 2006, we hosted our first “Community Focus Group” and invite one of these helping agencies per month to come and introduce their work and share with all interested parties (representing churches, civic groups, other helping agencies, and/or individuals – and, of course, River City Ministries) in a “Lunch and Learn” format. Linda Rogers, Vice President of Programming of Easter Seals Arkansas, was our featured presenter.
Hosting Community Focus Groups will allow Pleasant Valley to help unite varied groups in working together to respond to critical spiritual and social needs in our community.
