A greeting common to several of the writers of epistles – Paul, Peter, John and Jude - was a blessing of grace and peace.
Each of the three times that John records Jesus returning after His resurrection to visit His followers in chapter 20, he quotes the Lord saying, “Peace be with you!”
May His peace enrich our worship while gathered together or while praising Him in private.

Paul tells Christians at Rome that indulging in sin leads to slavery to it:
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. ~ Romans 6:15-17
Thanks be to God, indeed – for the grace that breaks the chains of sin, and gives us freedom in Christ through obedience to him.
