The
C.A.L.L. in Arkansas
THIS
SATURDAY, APRIL 19TH, 9 A.M. - 5 P.M.
PULASKI NORTH DHS OFFICE, 1900 E. WASHINGTON, NLR
WE NEED YOU! Wear your painting clothes and bring cleaning and
painting supplies to help do an EXTREME MAKEOVER of the visitation
rooms where children in foster care visit with their biological
parents.
We "made over" the rooms at the Pulaski South DHS
office, now the outdated, worn rooms in the Pulaski North DHS
office need some perking up, too! It's a tangible way to show
Christ's love and encouragement to the children, the families,
and the DHS workers who watch over them. This is a perfect Sunday
school class or community group project -- serving the "least
of these" in foster care together. Come for a couple of
hours to pitch in, or for the entire time.
Items Needed:

I’m
coming to believe more and more in God’s timing. We used
to call it the providence of God, that is, God providing what
is needed. I find that the provision often comes at just the
right time. As an example, I’ve told before how a postcard
I received when I was a missionary came at just the right time.
The message on the card was very simple. A group told of how
they had been praying for me. Others have told me that they
were praying for me, but I needed the message I received on
that postcard that day. It lifted me in a way that is difficult
to describe.
Since
this is Missions Emphasis Month, I want to apply this principle
of God’s timing in this way. If something this month prompts
you (perhaps even this article), think about our missionaries
and do something for one or more of them. Say a prayer, send
an email, write a note (there is a list of addresses in this
bulletin or on the PV website), mail an envelope with a bookmark
or package of kool-aid for the kids. Maybe your Bible class
or LIFEgroup would assemble a care package. If you teach a children’s
Bible class, you might have the children make cards for a missionary
family. It is not too difficult or expensive to call a missionary
in this modern age of technological marvels. One never knows
how a single simple thoughtful act will lift the spirits of
a missionary. That postcard did a lot for me.
