LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION GUIDE
Wednesday Night, May 24, 2006
“Locked and Loaded ”
5 Minutes - Welcome and Prayer
10 Minutes - OPEN
What are some basic assumptions or core beliefs we have about Scripture?
What are some questions or struggles we have concerning the basic existence of scripture? (i.e. how it was formed, does it contradict itself, why are some books left out, etc)
15-20 Minutes - DIG
What are some of the functions that scripture serves to bring man closer to Jehovah God?
Do you believe that scripture is truly relevant in today’s society? Why or why not?
What in scripture is hardest for you to grasp or to believe? (Surely God didn’t meant that?!)
If you were to have a discussion with a non-believer, what are some scientific, historical, or archeological arguments that you would share to help prove the validity of scripture?
In the same discussion above with a non-believer, what is the most compelling religious or spiritual argument to help prove the validity of scripture?
15 Minutes - REFLECT
The Pharisees and Sadducees are two groups who are easy to pick on. If we are honest, what are some ways that we mirror those two groups in our personal approach to scripture?
If we truly believe in the holiness of scripture and its existence, power, knowledge, authorship, etc., then why do we put scripture on a back burner so often in our priorities?
How can we take a book and let it be what it was meant to be - a living, breathing weapon in our lives?
CLOSING PRAYER
Submit these matters to God!
Pray for specific needs that were revealed during the meeting.
