Date of Birth: August 29, 1956
Wife: Fawnda
Children: Jesse and Carli
Year I came to Pleasant Valley: 1980
Year I became an elder here: 2003
Ministries I’m closely involved in: Building and Grounds Ministry, Jail
Ministry and Missions (serving as contact for Bill Johnson in New
York); Luke 10:37 Ministry (helping disaster victims)
My fondest experience serving as an elder at PV: Having only recently
begun my service as an elder, I don’t have much experience to draw
from. However, two things stand out even at this early juncture. The
first is a deep appreciation for the hard work of so many people in
selfless service around Pleasant Valley. We are blessed with some
awesome talent, and people around here just aren’t afraid to go to
work. The list of ministries underway at Pleasant Valley is impressive
and the enthusiasm with which the staff and the members pour themselves
into these opportunities is truly inspiring. The second thing that
really makes me thankful to be at PV is the way our assemblies
continually keep us challenged and inspired to worship God with all our
hearts, souls and minds. I’m grateful for the hard work of the many
dedicated Christians involved in the planning of our corporate worship
assemblies.
My
personal dreams and goals for PV: I hope the zeal I’ve seen growing
recently will never subside, and that we will continue to strive for
even greater levels of service in the kingdom. I hope we never lose
sight of the fact that it is not ourselves we are working for, but the
God who gave us life and hope. I also hope we never lose sight of the
fact that this is not "my" church or even "our" church, but that we are
simply holding it in trust for the next generation. I dream that our
efforts will help this congregation grow closer to what Jesus wants it
to be. Finally, I hope that our actions and our reputation here at PV
will always catch the attention of people in the community in a way
that will make them desire to to know more about Jesus and His church.
My real passion: To help young people find their place in the kingdom of God. To teach others about Christ by word and example.
My real passion: Seeing people serve and accomplish great things
without any desire for personal credit or recognition.
Myself in a few words: Anything I’ve been able to accomplish is merely
a reflection of those who continually keep me challenged and inspired.
I’d be lost were it not for Fawnda, and that’s literal. I continue to
look up to my children, my family and the many wonderful Christian
examples that surround me at Pleasant Valley as well as those I'm
privileged to work with. When it's peace and comfort I seek, I usually
find it in nature, experiencing the world as God created it, absent all
the distractions that man has added.
