The Psalms tell us much about this relationship: in God, the soul finds rest (62:1, 5; 116:7), refreshment (23:3), joy and delight (35:9 ). Yet God also knows the soul’s anguish, its grief (6:3; 31:7, 9; 42:5, 11; 43:5; 119:28) and yearning for Him (42:1-2; 84:2; 119:20). In God, the soul finds the recipient for the praise welling up within it (103:1-2, 22; 104:1, 35; 108:1; 146:1).
