A big church can be a daunting place to a visitor or a new member (even some of us who have been here a while!) - lots of unfamiliar faces, places, terms and practices.
We want you to feel at home at Pleasant Valley ... to find a place in the family of God here where you feel that you fit in and belong ... to get acquainted with those who follow Christ here (just a few at a time - you don't have to rush!).
In fact, we would very much like for you to become an active, treasured part of that family.
Here are a few links on our site that may help you get a sense for PV; who we are; Whom we're about; what He's doing through this church:
- About PVCC - A quick history of this particular gathering of saints in Little Rock
- Faith and Values - What we believe and why. There's a downloadable version of this document at this link: Faith and Values (PDF).
- Map and Directions - How to get to PV from nearby Interstate 430
- Minister's Welcome - A greeting from preaching minister Chuck Monan
- How You Can Help - Some ways that you can become involved right away
- Community Focus - A series of luncheons hosted by Pleasant Valley, one each month, featuring a local charity or community outreach
- Sermons Online - Where you can read, listen to (by streaming audio) or download MP3s of the messages shared at PV each Sunday (and occasionally, other times). You can even subscribe to them on your iPod.
- Bible Class Locations - Classes are available for all ages ... in fact, there are more than a dozen classes for adults, usually following the same Bible curriculum, with some electives. From time to time, there are offerings during the week as well.
- Bible Lessons - This archive of teaching and learning materials - most written by members and staff at Pleasant Valley - is a representative sampling of the content of our Adult Bible Curriculum.
- LIFE Groups - We have found that small groups (we call them "LIFE Groups") are an excellent opportunity for visitors, guests, new or long-time members to become better acquainted, learn together, serve together. Most of ours meet on Wednesday evenings.
- LIFE Group Lessons - Again, this is an archive of discussion materials written by members and staff to stimulate interaction on a variety of challenges in living a Christ-like life.
- Child Care Ministry - PVKids, our child care ministry, oversees all of the children's classes (nursery through sixth grade) as well as our Day School for infants through toddlers. All these classrooms are on our first floor; during the school year, the PV facility's upper floor and Family Life Center gym serve as an elementary campus for Central Arkansas Christian School.
- Family Life Center - This multipurpose facility has a mission to serve our community. We believe that God cares about our bodies as well as our souls - and that belief is a matter of heart, mind, soul and strength .
- Elders - Our church family is led by this paternal group of mentors and guides, who often spend as much as an hour or more of their monthly meeting time together praying for those whom they serve by leading and lead by serving. They serve without pay, as faithful volunteers. In the Bible, their first-century counterparts are variously described as shepherds, elders, bishops, and presbyters.
- Ministers - Pleasant Valley is also served by a staff of ministers and other servants, most of them paid full-time, to assist members and others who seek Christ. Some are evangelists and ministers who preach; others serve the body of Christ here in a variety of specific ways.
- Who Is This Jesus? - A question asked throughout the New Testament by people as varied as the residents of Jerusalem, His own closest followers and friends, the religious leaders who opposed Him, and even the crowds who listened to Him. Here are some of PV's answers.
