Perhaps nothing is so comforting to a child than a mother’s song. One can only imagine the kinds of songs that the maturing Jesus heard Mary sing as He grew up. But we have one sample.

Even at a time of receiving the mixed blessing of bearing the Child who would be known as God’s Son, Mary’s response was a song of praise when the Lord – through her cousin Elizabeth – confirmed the prophecy given to her by His angel.

My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.
