Pleasant Valley Church of Christ
10900 Rodney Parham Rd.
Little Rock, Arkansas

Dear friends and family,

Another month complete in southern Chile. I am glad to share with you that three more souls have decided to dedicate there lives to God. One of our single mothers has been bringing her close friend to church over the last six months. Now this friend has become a sister as she put on Christ a few weeks ago to the joy of us all. Two of the congregation’s teenagers also made the same commitment to Christ. Paula and Jose Manuel have been part of the youth group ever since I arrived. I can’t tell you how proud I am of these two kids whom I have come to love. There is a picture of the three of them attached below.

That makes seven of the current youth group who have become Christians in the last three years. It is so important for us to reach the young when trying to build a long lasting church. The church in Chile depends greatly on the development of these second generation members who have seen what it means to be in a Christian home. I am overjoyed to see how has God watered the seeds planted in these great young people.

I also had a visit from my fiancée who came down for a few weeks to see the work in person. She had the misfortune of seeing Chile in the dead of winter but we were blessed with a few sunny days. One of the church families was kind enough to let her stay with them during our time together.

For the months of May and June the classes at the church building were taught by one of the men. I tried to play an assistant role…ready to help whenever needed. I am happy to say that I wasn’t needed very much. We now have three men who are able to both preach and teach the congregation.

This month we also made great progress in completing our architectural plans for the building project we hope to start early next year. We will meet one more time with the local architect before the plans are complete. The fund raising for that will soon begin. It is an important step to solidifying the work here and I pray that all will go as planned.

Thank you so much for all the thoughts, prayers and emails. These last few months of my work in Chile will be a whirlwind! Melissa and I have set a firm date for the Wedding: December 18, 2010. I enjoy my work and my present life, but I am egger to step into my next role as husband. Lord willing, I will be coming back to live in Arkansas this October.

God bless you all.
In Him,

Andrew Levi Sherrill
