“…serve him with whole hearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you.” – 1 Chronicles 28:9b

We want your input! Focus groups will soon be conducted in each adult Bible class, beginning with the Home Builders class on Sunday, Sept 24, followed by the Young Families class on October 1. We look forward to hearing from you!
Stay tuned… this page will include the latest information, and will provide instructions and forms for PV members as well as interested candidates as soon as they are available.
In the meantime, please join us in praying the above scripture over this search and feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
Are you wondering how long before we have a new pulpit minister, how you can participate, and if a lead candidate has already been identified? If so, you are not alone. Many PV members have asked these questions and more. If your question is not covered here, please feel free to email the team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The minister search committee is composed of 12 PV members, selected by the elders, representing a cross section of our congregation. View the full list here.
We are currently in stage one. This is 100% a team effort. PV members, we need your input and your prayers. We will soon be conducting focus groups through our adult Sunday morning Bible classes as well as a few opportunities on Sunday nights. We are also looking at the history of PV; examining our roots in relation to who we have become as a body of believers.
These efforts will allow us to develop a clear understanding of the qualities this person must have to be the right fit for PV and will also help us better communicate who we are as a church to potential candidates. This candidate will align with our core beliefs and will complement the existing goals and efforts at PV to connect with God, grow spiritually, serve together, and make a dramatic impact for good in our community and across the world.
Praying over stage one:
“And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” – Ephesians 1:22-23
During stage one, please pray with us that the true needs of the congregation will come to surface as we seek guidance from the Lord concerning what is next for our church. Pray that no personal agenda will surface, but only the will of the Lord.
When a complete picture of the right candidate has been created, we will begin seeking out the candidates who match those qualities. We welcome your suggestions of specific names at any time during the process, but especially during this stage.
Praying over stage two:
“For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:8
During stage two, pray with us that God will help us find the most qualified candidates. Pray for courage as committee members reach out to potential candidates and for the patience needed to let the process do its work.
The committee will spend time listening to sermons, speaking with candidates, and checking references to narrow the field to three final candidates.
Praying over stage three:
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep, and they know me.” – John 10:14
During stage three, please pray with us that we as a group will hear God’s voice with clarity and feel peace as we consider each candidate. Pray that we will see God’s will for this position and that our judgement will not be clouded by personal opinion.
The committee will submit the three men selected to the elders. The elders will then interview and select the final candidate.
Praying over stage four:
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
During stage four, please pray that the elders will know the right questions to ask as they represent PV through the interview process. Pray that they will have clarity of God’s will for this position as they move forward with their final choice. Pray that the ideal candidate will be moved toward a love and mission for PV and our community and that they will feel the Spirit drawing them to accept the position. Pray that the church accepts the decision with gracious and loving hearts, knowing that the will of God has been asked for and carried out at every step of the process.
